Shine Your Light

by Elizabeth Erenberger

In this age of technological overload and civil uncertainty, where can we find the truth of our being? Where does one go to find the essence of life purpose and personal destiny?

Many times, we are told to look within, and there is a truth to this for some answers will never be found outside of ourselves. However, amidst global imbalance and our new-found fascination with technology, many also feel isolated and alienated from others.

As we begin to see the subjects of racism, sexism, and cultural injustice back in the headlines it is easy to feel exhausted and overwhelmed. Still as we look through the shadows for the rays of light, we begin to see new opportunities for enlightened progressive conversations.

There are new conversations taking place across borders and boundaries that were previously too taboo to cross or speak of. Humanity begins to turn its focus to the similarities we all share, rather than the differences of belief and philosophy. How can my faith and spirituality inspire and motivate others? How can we live as a global tribe, peacefully supporting each other? How can we ignite our own inner motivation to serve our communities and share our gifts with others?

There are times in our lives where we must retreat and reflect on the lessons we have learned. But it is through our community that we begin to see the divine reflection of what we have to offer, and the joys of what we deliver to others. Community interaction is one of most important ingredients to a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. We have stories to share and experiences to explore. It is through the interactions with our families, peers and co-workers that we begin to see how we can truly make a difference in the world with our thoughts, attitudes and ideas. We begin to see the importance of our relationships with others, how they might mold and shape us, as well as how they support and nurture us. There are so many ways to communicate now across oceans and through devices. However it is good to remember that nothing can truly heal the soul like some “one on one” time with a loved one or friend.

Now more than ever, the earth asks us to rise up as light workers to unite and inspire. We are not alone in this journey of life. Each person who happens across our life path has something to offer. Will you be listening when they share their wisdom? Will your eyes be welcoming, or turn them away?

How can we rekindle the threads of network and community? How can we create more opportunities for face to face interactions, moments of eye contact, and the chance to actively listen to the person in front of you?

I urge you as I am currently urging myself. Let’s share our light, allow it to proudly expand, and live each moment to the fullest.

Those who are the hardest to love are often those who need it the most. And sometimes just being a witness is the best gift you can give a person. Just being truly seen and heard by another human, is so underrated these days. Let’s find our way back…
