True success in business is a function of applying the spiritual practice of intuitive seeking that you already know how to do. You will need to be inventive about creating your metaphysical business because you are blazing new trails in an “emerging field” that has not gone mainstream yet. It’s not very likely you will be able to peruse a local newspaper and find a metaphysical job that your degree would qualify you for. You will need to create your job yourself by creating your own metaphysical business. The process is facilitated by making goals and developing a plan for getting people to know who you are, and why they should work with you. This is accomplished by establishing the intention of succeeding, and then keeping positive thoughts of succeeding in a way that will be fulfilling to your life’s purpose.

To build your own business, you will have to commit… your energy, time, and money to pursuing the specific paths that will lead you in the direction of your success. First, it is vital that you know who you are, your likes and dislikes, and what talents and training you have. This will help you make decisions about what tasks you will perform yourself, and what might be better to delegate or sub-contract to a support system that is part of every successful business. In order to do this, it is important that you take every opportunity to learn, develop, and get the specific experiences that will help you make good decisions. This part of the process often involves connecting with other experts in your field so that they can share their experiences with you.

Characteristics of a successful business owner are inventiveness, determination, persistence, self-discipline, respect, a little money, and good oral and written communication skills. If you are weak in any of these areas, work on improving them.

In the book The E-Myth, Michael Gerber says, “Once you recognize that the purpose of your life is not to serve your business, but that the primary purpose of your business is to serve your life, you can then go to work on your business rather than in it.” Jump start your dream by writing your goals. This is best accomplished by establishing your priorities, and then determining your highest priority. What’s most important for you to experience and explore? Until you answer this question your life goals will be off purpose, unaligned with your inner passion. Your intentions will lack the power to attract the people and situations necessary to become a reality. A line from the movie Chariots of Fire, says, “Examine yourself; discover where your true chance of greatness lies. Seize that chance and let no power of persuasion deter you from your task.” Examine through meditation and self-reflection what your purpose in life is. Pay attention to your intuition and your dreams and what your friends and family say about your strengths.
