Astral Projection

What is an astral projection? Many of you have most likely heard this term tossed about in metaphysical circles and communities, but do you really know what it is? Perhaps you have even had an astral projection and didn’t know that was what it was! Almost everyone has had an astral projection at least once in their lives, even if they didn’t realize it was an astral projection at the time. Enid Hoffman says in her book Develop Your Psychic Skills (1981), “Out of body experiences are much more common than most people suppose. Many people simply don’t remember them. Others assume that they have been dreaming.”

There is abundant material, reports and evidence that the astral worlds do indeed exist based on the multitudes of individuals who have reported astral experiences, accurately described places they have never been to, and witnessed events that could not have been possible for them to know about otherwise. There are literally millions of accounts about astral projections that you can read in books and on the internet. I highly suggest beginning with Robert A. Monroe’s books on astral projection, which are included in the bibliography and other areas of this course.

An astral projection is what happens when you have an Out of Body Experience, or OBE. This happens when your consciousness allows itself to travel outside the physical body and into other dimensions, particularly the astral planes. The astral planes are the closest dimension to the earth plane. It has both pleasant and unpleasant energies, and is very dualistic. Some spirits get trapped in the astral planes without realizing that they can move on to higher dimensions where duality is less prominent.

There are people who have astral projections often and with regularity. It is like leading a double life. You can have a life and friends here on Earth, but you can also have a life and friends in the astral worlds. The spiritual realms are highly populated, and you can make friends and acquaintances there just the same way you do on Earth. You can even re-visit places of interest or sanctuary if you choose to. The astral worlds are far more liquid and non-static than the Earth plane, where everything is quite malleable and can change easily. In the astral worlds you can walk through walls, fly, experience multiple streams of consciousness and have peak spiritual experiences. However, you must be in control of your emotions and thoughts and be able to choose what you want your experiences to be like or you will be tossed to and fro in a dualistic reality that draws you like a magnet to whatever you are resonating with. If you are severely depressed, astral projection is not a good idea, for you will attract energies to yourself in the astral worlds that will do more harm than good. It is best to enter the astral worlds with a pleasant frame of mind. What you put out comes back to you with immediacy, and there is not the delayed effect as there is on the Earth plane, where you have time to change your thoughts and emotions before something comes to you to match them. In the astral worlds, everything is instantaneous, especially the law of Like Attracts Like.

In this course you will learn about the art of astral projection, how it works, how to do it, and how to handle yourself once you find yourself outside your body. The meditations included with this course will assist you in your journeys and your endeavors to get outside your body with your waking consciousness fully alert and ready to have adventures separate from your human body and the limitations of the Earth plane. You will be able to traverse the universe freely in your astral body, and you will have experiences that are unexplainable to those who are not “in the know.” If at first you don’t succeed, just keep practicing! Intention and persistence will be quite necessary if you want to attain this spiritual power (siddhi).
